Everybody quotes the page size. Nobody quotes the desk it takes.

Why we exist

Desk calendars are compared on page size and unit price, and the three things that decide whether one is still on the desk in June — footprint, the standing mechanism and viewing angle — are on nobody’s quote.

All three are settled before anything is printed, and none of them costs extra.

Desk area is rent

So it is the first number we quote: the actual surface the calendar occupies when it is open and in use, not the size of the printed sheet.

An easel borrows vertical space and often takes less desk than a mug. A pad takes most of the desk and earns it by being the thing you write on. Both are defensible. Neither is defensible unstated.

The scored fold is the whole mechanism

A creased back panel relaxes within weeks. The lean angle opens, and the calendar walks forward each time a keyboard is pushed back into it until it goes over.

A scored fold holds the angle it was set to for the full year. We state the lean angle and the base depth on the quote rather than leaving them to the folder.

It is read at a steep angle, and that changes the type

A desk calendar meets a seated eye at about arm’s length and roughly thirty degrees down. A flat pad foreshortens hard at that angle.

Type that looks generous in a flat proof reads cramped on a real desk, so we set it larger and proof at the angle it will genuinely be seen from. It is why a small easel routinely out-reads a big pad.

Nobody plans inside one month

Deadlines cross boundaries and the question at a desk is usually how far away something is, not what today’s date is.

A three-month view answers that. We keep the current month at full size and reduce only the flanking months, rather than shrinking three equal grids until none of them reads.

The glue on a day block is a specification

It has to hold hundreds of pages firmly and release exactly one, cleanly, every morning for a year.

Too strong and the page tears across. Too weak and the block sheds. Padding adhesive has real grades, and choosing one is the difference between a ritual and an irritation.

What we will talk you out of

A pad on a hot-desking floor, where it will be cleared away and never come back. A refillable stand if you only need one year. Three equal shrunken month grids. A big format when the desk is already lost to a laptop and a monitor.

And anything that is not a desk calendar — nothing here hangs on a wall, sticks to a fridge, folds into a wallet or prints as a poster, and we will point you elsewhere rather than sell you the wrong format.
